I've had enough time with this watch now to give it a fair assessment, and overall I've been very impressed.
The first thing that grabs your attention is the dial. The deep forest green sunburst is absolutely gorgeous. Depending on the light it can look almost black, then come alive with brilliant emerald tones in the sun. Festina got the color exactly right.
The polished applied numerals, indices, and hands contrast beautifully against the dial. Pair those with the polished bezel and lugs, brushed case sides, and well-balanced proportions, and the whole watch just works. Nothing feels out of place or overdone.
The solar movement has also been excellent. Once it's in direct sunlight, it charges to full surprisingly quickly. My only real complaint is that indoor lighting doesn't seem to contribute much to charging, so it definitely prefers natural light.
My one disappointment was the factory bracelet. It wasn't bad, but it didn't do the watch justice. I replaced it with a green hornback gator strap, and that completely transformed the watch. It now looks and feels like the watch Festina should have shipped from the beginning.
This is one of those watches that doesn't try to be flashy. It just gets the fundamentals right—excellent dial, balanced design, quality finishing, and a dependable solar movement. I've enjoyed wearing it far more than I expected, and I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable solar watch that has a little more personality than the usual offerings.
